Jay Cutler Wins the 2009 Mr. Olympia!
by Kevin Carbone

Jay Cutler surprised everyone by hitting the best conditioning of his life and dethroning reigning champ Dexter Jackson to capture the 2009 Joe Weider's Mr. Olympia on Saturday night, Sept. 26, at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Jay was in the best shape of his life and many felt that he completely changed the look of his body by coming in very ripped and hard as well as huge.

Jay was also the first man in the 45 year history of the Mr. Olympia to reclaim the title after losing it. Jay not only won the title but he dominated the contest from the moment he walked out on stage in the eyes of both the judges and audience.

Jay came in this year with a smaller waist which made his big shoulders and huge quads look even more dramatic. His abs were detailed and his crazy looking quads were striated and huge. Jay was the undisputed winner this year by a long shot with no complaints from anyone.

Also inspiring was Jay's mental attitude which was not arrogant but showed great confidence. He knew he was mentally and physically ready to take on all challenges and win the Mr. Olympia back. The big question now is whether Jay will compete next year to defend his title or will he retire with the crown. Either way, Jay Cutler must be considered one of the greatest Mr. Olympia champs in history.

Taking second place was Branch Warren who was the biggest surprise of the show by placing ahead of Dexter Jackson who was last year's Mr. Olympia winner. Branch was at his all time peak with granite hardness and size with freaky vascularity and ripped all over.

The last time Branch competed in the Mr. Olympia was in 2006 when he placed 12th. He has always been a fan favorite with the hardcore crowd who love his super thick vascular look.

Third place position went to last years Mr. Olympia winner Dexter Jackson. Again Dexter was in fantastic shape with his streamlined and symmetrical look that is always ripped and hard. He has a very tight and detailed waist with big arms and legs combined with overall perfect shape and proportion. However, this year it seemed the judges were leaning heavily toward mass and size (Cutler and Warren) as opposed to streamlined and symmetrical (Dexter Jackson).

Fourth place went to Kai Greene who competed in his first Mr. Olympia. Kai is one of the most massive bodybuilders competing today, with huge legs, big back and arms. Kai's posing routine is very unique and we will be sure to see him again in a big way next year.

Fifth place went to Phil Heath which was a dissappointment compared to his 3rd place showing last year. Unfortunately, this year Phil was hit with a case of food poisoning the night before the prejudging. On the night of the show Phil looked good but lost too much ground due to illness to be in his best shape. At 29 years old, Phil was the youngest competitor, so look for him to be back next year.

As part of the same weekend of events, Kevin English won the 202 lbs. and under division. The ladies of the muscle world completed for the Ms. Olympia, Ms. Figure Olympia, and Ms. Fitness Olympia. Iris Kyle once again won the Ms. Olympia, Nicole Wilkins Lee won the Ms. Figure Olympia, and Adela Garcia won the Ms. Fitness Olympia.
